What started as a "2 week pause” to "slow the spread" as not to overwhelm the healthcare system, turned into over a year long politically charged nightmare that the general public had no say in. Government mandates, restrictions to schools and businesses, stay at home orders, forced quarantines, travel restrictions, etc. have devastated cities, states, communities, businesses and the general health and welfare of our country. Some say this was a necessary evil to save lives. Others say that politics, media & large corporations played too big of a role and we would have been better off doing something different or even doing nothing at all. Just temporarily closing businesses and schools will probably contribute more to obesity, alcoholism, drug addiction, mental illness, business failures, economic and other unforeseen negative effects than we can imagine. If the goal was to save lives, many would say it wasn’t accomplished. Once the pandemic has passed, the media narrative (in line with their major advertisers) will likely be that we were able to conquer Covid-19 with our efforts of mask wearing, staying home, "emergency" vaccinations, etc. We'll pat each other on the backs and talk about how we won a tough battle against Mother Nature. Of course this sets up society for forced vaccinations and mandatory mask alerts throughout the coming years, so we can "conquer" future pandemics. Who do you think is better qualified to make decisions for your family or your community...The Government? Social Media? A drug company? You???
